Wigman started his company in 2019 with buying and selling old and rare.
He still does, but in addition the next year he decided to bottle his own series. The challenge was and is that he want to get a close as possible to his (quite spoiled) reference from the 50ties, 60ties and 70ties. Technically impossible to get that for 100 precent but its still possible these days to find very good casks. It only takes much more time and effort to find them.
For him it is absolute condition that he tastes a sample a few times before buying. His pallet and taste are his branding so major important. Lost of cask sellers do not provide the opportunity to have a sample first. He will not buy there.
The first bottling he did took over 70 samples until one was found worth bottling. He celebrated, he was into business. Sad news next day that this cask of Ben Nevis 1987 has already been sold in the mean time to an Asian country.
Another 60 samples were needed to find the 1st one. Secret Highland 1987. This was the first of a series from 6 that first year. (2020)
Two more series followed in 2021 and 2022. All with the name “they inspired”
Beside this regular series there are two more. One with some more expensive bottlings that Wigman just could not let go because of the high quality. This series carries the name “Prometheus”
And as it all about his taste he also started to bottle great liquor in his opinion that has the same high quality as his whisky’s, but will come from other sources. Till now he did a few Cognacs, two Rum and even a very interesting jenever. This series is not numbered, has the name “precious moments” and will have pictures designed by Hans Dillesse as well, from beautiful ladies he met.
